Joyce Borchardt's Obituary
Joyce Brenna Borchardt, age 72, of Ulen, MN, died Sunday, June 28, 2015, in Viking Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Joyce LaVonne Brenna was born January 16, 1943, the daughter of Morris and Hilda (Syverson) Brenna in Moorhead, MN. She grew up near Ulen where she attended school, graduating from Ulen High School with the class of 1961. After graduation, Joyce moved to Wadena and later to the Twin Cities where she was employed at Honeywell for a few years. Upon returning to Ulen, Joyce managed the Ulen Liquor Store for several years. In 1993, Joyce began working at the Viking Manor Nursing Home in the Activities department until last fall when she retired due to her health.
Joyce's favorite pastimes included, flower gardening, shopping, cooking and baking. She had a love of music and played the bass drum in the Ulen Centennial Band for 17 years. Joyce enjoyed visiting with her friends and truly treasured the time she spent with her family.
Joyce is survived by her son, Craig Borchardt of Ulen, MN; her daughter, Christi Brenna (Mike Booth) of Red Lodge, MT; a brother, Clair (Bonnie) of Minneapolis, MN; sisters: Barb Hilde of Felton, MN, Betty (Roy) Erickson of Woodbury, MN, and Cheryl Brenna of Audubon, MN; sisters-in-law, Kari Myhre of Glyndon, MN and Bobby Brenna of St. Paul Park, MN and her best friend, Polly Nathe of St. Cloud, MN and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Mike and Gale; and a sister, Marilyn.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Visitation was Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation was also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Officiating was Pastor Mike Rueckert with Mary Ann Schneidermann serving as organist and Susan Green as vocalist. Pallbearers were Jason Brenna, Dustin Brenna, Jeff Knutson, Keith Hilde, Chuck Hilde and Terry Matheson.
Interment was in North Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen.
