After high school, Joy sampled many facets of life, from cooking, food management and bartending to studying at Ritas Beauty College. Joy ultimately earned a degree in Commercial Art from Moorhead Tech. where she found her path as an artist.

The crowning feather in Joy's cap came from her 18 year mastering of tattooing with the business she and James built from the ground up – Sterling Rose Tattoos and Body Piercing. Joy was an accomplished, award winning artist and said recently that she never lost her love of tattooing.

Joy's generosity is well known. If she learned that someone was in need, she did not fail to act. Joy loved her family, friends, humanity and Mother Earth. This was Joy Mulvihill.
