Obituary

Josie Thompson, age 84, of Ada, MN, died Friday, August 10, 2007, in Bridges Care Community, Ada.

Josie C. Crane was born July 18, 1923 the daughter of Austin and Lillie (Askelson) Crane near Borup, MN. She was raised and attended school in the Twin Valley, MN community. Josie was baptized, confirmed and later married in Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. As a young woman she worked as a housekeeper in that area. On August 28, 1943 Josie was united in marriage to Lloyd Thompson. They made their first home in the Halstad, MN area, later returning to Twin Valley. Together, Josie and Lloyd owned and operated a farm northwest of Twin Valley, on which Josie was active until 1992 when they moved to Ada, to make their home. Josie became a resident of the Bridges Care Community in 2003, and has lived there since.

Josie enjoyed doing handy-work, canning, baking and visiting with her friends. In her younger years she was active in the Zion Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years Lloyd, of Ada; one daughter, LuVerne (Les) Olich, Ada; one son, Jerome (Sandy) Thompson, Twin Valley; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Dan) Scheett, Moorhead, MN; three brothers, Alvin (Rebecca) Crane, Twin Valley, Lawrence (Betty) Crane, Mahnomen, MN, and Tilford (Ann) Crane, Gonvik, MN.

Josie was preceded in death by one brother, Andy and two sisters, Lavina Narum Tuven and Audrey Ose.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 2:00 PM in Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 14 from 5 PM until 7 PM in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Visitation will also be one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Pastor Charlie Bade will officiate. Danette Gwin will be the organist with Tricia Thompson providing the vocal solos. Pallbearers will be Kelly Crane, Rick Crane, Kevin Crane, Roger Crane, Harold Narum, David Narum, Larry Narum, Milford Narum and Eldon Narum. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley.
