Watch John's Funeral Mass

John Stall, age 70, of Mahnomen, MN, died Saturday, November 30, 2024, at his home, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

John Thomas Stall was born December 4, 1953, in Mahnomen, MN, the son of Harold and Rose (Omer) Stall. He grew up in Mahnomen where he attended school.  John furthered his education, learning the trade of a bricklayer.  John lived and worked most of his life in the Mahnomen area.  In 2011, he married Kristi Paul and they have made their home together in Mahnomen since then.  John was a part of the Bricklayers Union for many years before retiring in 2013.  During retirement, John worked part time at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen in the maintenance department.  He was diagnosed with cancer in early 2019 and although his health began to decline, he never lost his sense of humor and fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.

He was a true storyteller and if you knew Johnny, you never really knew when his stories were fact or fiction!  He had a great sense of humor, loved to tease people and was always fun to be around.  He enjoyed the great outdoors all year round, whether it was golfing, 4-wheeling, hunting, or fishing, especially ice fishing, a great time was had by all.  In more recent times, he liked to sit on the deck and watch the squirrels trying to get into his bird feeders.  John was also known to take in some Bingo on Friday night, even though he said he hated that damn game, and watch the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.  Above all, John loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren with everyone looking forward to the family gatherings where Kibbeh would be served.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his wife, Kristi of Mahnomen; daughter, Allison (Lex) Wright of Fridley, MN; son, Steve Stall of Fargo, ND; step-son, Nick (Elysia) Agnew of Lake Park, MN; five grandchildren: August and Audry Wright, Jordan and Jaden Stall, and Dreyton Agnew; sister, Carol (Mike) Bjerk of Mahnomen; brother, Richard (Ann) Stall also of Mahnomen; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Stall of Moorhead, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Rose; and a brother, James Stall.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen, MN, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 pm, and visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 6, 2024, at St. Michael's Catholic Church.  Burial will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
