John Richard (Dick) Storsved passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024 at Benedictine Care Community in Ada, MN. Dick was born in Hendrum, MN on May 8, 1937, the seventh of eight children born to John A. and Rachel Storsved. A lifelong resident of Hendrum, Dick graduated from Hendrum High School in 1955. He enlisted and served in the North Dakota Air National Guard for six years and worked for Halstad Farm Equipment. He spent most of his working life farming with his eldest brother, James, and later owned Hendrum Grain Company and Nordik Blading, and worked for Mitchell Farms.

Dick was an active member in town serving on the Hendrum City Council and as Mayor of Hendrum from January 1976 until March 1979. He was elected as Norman County Commissioner for District 3 and served in that role from 1980 through 1992. Dick was a member of American Legion Holland-Swenson Post #434 for 48 years. Dick also served as a board member on the Wild Rice Watershed District, Norman County Planning and Zoning, and the Multi-County Nursing Committee.

Dick was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum and was active in a variety of roles including Trustee, Deacon, and President of the congregation.

Along with his brothers, Dick enjoyed restoring old John Deere tractors and hunting in Montana. He also raised a variety of livestock, including small herd of buffalo.

On August 27, 1966, Dick married Nida I. Rice in North St. Paul, MN. She survives along with children, Nancy (Robert) Davis, North St. Paul, MN, John II (Anne) Storsved, Champaign, IL, Randi (Phil) Trowbridge, Barnesville, MN, and Eric (Lynda) Storsved, Elon, NC; grandchildren, Andrew Trowbridge, Ben (Hailey) Storsved, Jack (Addie Ritter) Trowbridge, Kate Storsved, Josie Davis, Luke Storsved, Lily Trowbridge, JJ Storsved, and Addison Storsved; great-granddaughter, Florence Storsved; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Clifford, Alton, Irving, and Floyd; sisters, Gladys Forseth and Glenora (Onsgard) Hintze; sisters-in-law, Patti Storsved, Margaret Storsved, Vivian Storsved, Mavis Storsved, Yvette Storsved, and Karen Rice; brothers-in-law, Art Forseth, Roger Onsgard, Gene Johnson, Chuck Hintze, and Lew Rice; and nieces, Kristi (Onsgard) Watkins and Karen (Storsved) Kuyava.

Celebration of Life Service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum, MN.

Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 20, 2024 at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Halstad, MN, with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 PM.

Inurnment: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Hendrum, MN.
