John Edward Nelson, 71, of Ada, MN, died at his residence in Ada, MN, on March 7, 2014. John was born on April 5, 1942, to Norman and Oma (Eeg) Nelson in Ada. He graduated from the Ada High School, NDSU and received his Master's Degree in Accounting at UND. John's work took him to various places around the country on military bases, and for longer periods of time at Dickinson, ND, Bismarck, ND, and Reno, NV. In the early 1990's, he returned to Ada to live in the home he grew up in. While living in Ada, John worked at various jobs, including ACI Telemarketing, and the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN.

He was a member of the Elk's Club, Crookston, MN. His health limited his ability to get around, but he was still able to enjoy hunting, especially Deer and Turkey hunting and fishing, on the water and ice. John enjoyed playing cards, ingo and was a fan of basketball, Nascar Racing and watching old Western movies. Attending the local county fairs and car racing was a great time for John. John is survived by two aunts by marriage, Margaret Myrold, Grand Forks, ND and Agnes Eeg, Florence, AZ, step-children and cousins, as well as good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Service : Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 2 PM at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Visitation : from 1 PM to 2PM in the funeral home.

Burial will be held in the Ada City Cemetery in the spring.
