John D. "Jack" Tracy, 84, Ada, MN, formerly of Perley, MN, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the Benedictine Care Community in Ada, MN.
John Donald Tracy was born March 29, 1933, at home in Emmons County, ND. His parents were Edward and Josephine (Opheim) Tracy. At an early age, the family moved to Perley, MN. Jack attended school in Perley, graduating from Hendrum High School in 1951. He worked at Sanders Implement in Perley until entering the US Army in 1953. He was a member of the 40 th Engineer Pipeline Company serving in France until 1955 when he was Honorably Discharged. After being discharged from the Army, Jack worked at Farmers Union Oil Company in Perley. In 1971 Jack began his career with the United States Postal Service retiring in 1995. Jack was united in marriage to Janice Hasz on June 23, 1962, in Ada, MN. They made their home in Perley until 2012 when they moved to Ada, MN.
Jack enjoyed spending time with family, woodworking, and tinkering in his shop. He and Jan also enjoyed traveling in their RV spending many winters in Texas. Jack was an active member of the Kirkebo Lutheran Church, serving as the janitor for several years. Jack was the Fire Chief for the Perley Volunteer Fire Department, in charge of the Utilities Department for the City of Perley and helped wherever needed until moving to Ada.
Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice: Ada MN, four daughters, Peggy (Tom) Pitsenbarger Fargo ND; Jane (Roger) Borgen, Perley MN; Susan (Mark) Brownlee, Ada, MN; Ellen (Nolan) Thompson, Bismarck, ND. Nine Granddaughters, Amanda (Steve) Brown, Ashley Athmann, Tracy Athmann, Madison Pitsenbarger, Sarah Borgen, Kayla (Dustin) Nelson, Leah (Nathan) Mathsen, Kendra Thompson and Quinn Thompson. Two Great Grandchildren, Jack and Ella Brown. One brother, Dorrence "Kim" (Yvonne) Tracy, AZ, two sisters-in-law, Mikelle Tracy, CA and Louise Tracy, Fargo, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his only grandson, Tyler Borgen, his parents, one sister, Ruth Bakko, two brothers, Henry Tracy and Thomas Tracy and one brother-in-law, Herbert Bakko.
Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed.
Funeral: 2:00PM, Monday, April 2, 2018, at Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley, MN.
Visitation: Sunday, April 1, 2018, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with at 6:30PM prayer service at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Kirkebo Lutheran Cemetery, rural Perley, MN.
