Joan Everson, age 78, of Twin Valley, MN, died Sunday, March 26, 2017, in Sanford Health, Fargo surrounded by her loving family. Joan Thea Gunnufson, the daughter of Halvor and Clara (Bjorge) Gunnufson, was born on September 21, 1938, in Twin Valley. She spent her childhood in the Twin Valley area where she attended school. In October 1957, Joan was united in marriage to Wendell Everson and the couple was blessed with four children. During Wendell's employment, they traveled to various places in the first five years of their marriage before finally settling in Maplewood, MN. Joan provided daycare for many years in the cities as well as working in a nursing home. The family also had a cabin on Rush Lake that they remodeled over time into a permanent home where Joan lived until the early 1980's. She then moved closer to her daughter and often helped care for her grandchildren. In the mid 1980's, she moved to Pine City where she did daycare. In the early 1990's, Joan relocated back to Twin Valley. Joan married Dan Incerti on July 26, 1997 and together they owned and operated the local Northern Lights Bar & Restaurant for several years. She also worked at the Shooting Star Casino before her retirement. In the summer of 2014, Joan made her home at the Valley Pines Apartments. She greatly enjoyed visiting with her neighbors over a cup of afternoon coffee and sharing meals together. Joan often called her sister, Penny, her guardian angel for taking care of her needs while living at Valley Pines Apartments. When she was able, Joan liked to camp and she enjoyed traveling with her family. Her hands were never idle as she often crocheted beautiful keepsakes. Joan always looked forward to a trip to the casino to try her luck and share some laughs with family and friends. Joan cherished her family and her contagious smile touched the hearts of many. Joan is survived by a daughter, Cindy Cloutier of Blaine, MN; grandchildren, Chad Gibson of Stanchfield, MN and Alicia Cloutier of Blaine MN; brothers, Bobby (Shirley) Gunnufson and Harlan (Sherrie) Gunnufson all of Twin Valley, MN; a sister, Penny (Pat) Chisholm of Gary, MN; a sister-in-law, Amy Gunnufson of Ballwin, MO; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; three sons: Dale, Michael and Daniel; a brother, Marlus; and beloved dog, Ginger.
