Jewel Mae (Becker) Seeger of Mahnomen area, age 78, died Nov. 7, 2008.
Born December 23, 1929, she was raised by her parents Merlin and Mildred Coyle Becker in Mahnomen area. She graduated from Mahnomen High School May 1949. On December 30, 1949, Jewel married Duane Lowell Seeger, son of William and Alice Seeger of Twin Valley. They began on Duane's family farm, moving to their own farm SW of Mahnomen Nov.1955. Jewel was active with Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4-H leadership, Pembina Homemakers Club and Parent Teachers Association, while raising their ten children.
Jewel was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1976, living at home with assistance until 1998 when she moved to St. Mary's Nursing Home and later Emmanuel Nursing Home, both in Detroit Lakes. She had been living at Ezekiel Care Home, Moorhead since 2006.
Jewel is survived by her husband, Duane, Mahnomen; their children: Debra (Chuck) Steinbach, Appleton, WI; Paula Seeger (Steve) Krogh, Issaquah, WA; Naomi Evans, Wahpeton, ND; Darrel (Sandi), Pelican Rapids; Nathan (Joanne), Dent; Neal (Liz), Detroit Lakes; Scott, Moorhead; John, Mahnomen; Brenda (Dan) Crane, Crookston; 23 grandchildren, 2 great-grand children; her mother, Mildred, White Bear Lake; siblings: Joanne Gahler, White Bear Lake; Joyce Lundquist, Surprise, AZ; Mark Becker, San Diego, CA.
Jewel is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Loren and Lena Coyle; paternal grandparents, William and Ella Becker; father, Merlin Becker; infant brothers: Wallace, Loren, William; her children Anita Marie and Kevin Joel; and son-in-law, Gene Evans.
Visitation: Thursday 5-8 PM, with 7PM prayer service, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mahnomen.
Funeral: Friday 1 PM, with visitation at 12, Trinity Lutheran Church, Twin Valley.
Internment: Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Mahnomen.
