Jerry Wisk, age 56, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, March 3, 2012, in his home.
Jerry Dean Wisk was born January 20, 1956, the son of Howard and Delores (Mesker) Wisk in Ada, MN where he grew up and attended school until the age of 10, at which time he moved with his family to Ulen, MN for a few years then to Hitterdal, MN. Following high school, Jerry worked for a time in road construction as well as for American Crystal Sugar and doing drywall work. Jerry then attended Moorhead Technical Institute where he received his degree in Culinary Arts. Early in his career, he served as head chef for the Conservatory Restaurant and the Blue Berry Pines Restaurant, both in the Fargo-Moorhead area. In October of 1991, Jerry was united in marriage to Sharon Anderson. In the late 1990's, Jerry moved to Leonard, ND, where he owned and operated the Farmers Table Café. After selling the café, Jerry recently moved to Moorhead to make his home.
Jerry was a gifted musician and had a true passion for performing. He had played in several area bands, most notably the "Straight Shot" and "Head Over Heels." In his spare time, Jerry liked to fish and spend quiet time on the lake.
Jerry is survived by a son, Tony of Moorhead, MN and a daughter, Anna Wisk of Fargo, ND; one brother Donny (Karen) Wisk of Dilworth, MN and a sister, Debbie Wisk of Detroit Lakes, MN; aunts and uncles, Orell (Carol) Mesker of Ulen and Lois (Buzz) Ziegler; six nieces and one nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Allen.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, March 9, 2012, at 1:30 PM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Ulen, MN. Visitation began one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Officiating was Pastor Steve Dahl with Carol Lockhart serving as organist and Susan Green serving as Pianist. Pallbearers were Rick Krone, Jeff Dauner, Larry Longtine, Darcy Christianson, Roger Halverson and Josh Moonhart.
Interment was in Syre Lutheran Cemetery, rural Twin Valley, MN.
