Jerome Trapp, age 87, of Mahnomen, MN, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the Benedictine Care Center in Ada, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Jerome William Trapp was born on March 13, 1933 to his loving parents, Clarence and Iona (Yackel) Trapp, in Sanborn, MN. Jerome attended country grade school in Popple Grove Township. The family moved near Mahnomen, MN, where they attended to farming activities. As a young man, Jerome helped on the family farm and graduated from Mahnomen High School. Jerome worked as a well driller for many years and loaded railcars of potatoes in Grand Forks, ND. He later moved to Hibbing, MN, to do the same. Jerome loved farming and returned home to join his father in the 1950's. On June 18, 1955, Jerome married the love of his life, Gladys Mischke, in Waubun, MN. The couple made their home near Mahnomen and was blessed with six children, which he proudly provided for through farming.

Jerome had a passion for the great outdoors. He truly loved farming and watching the fields change each season. He also spent many hours snowmobiling and fishing when he was able. Jerome was a member at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mahnomen. Jerome's greatest joy was his time with family and playing cards with his friends, the memories made will forever be cherished.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys and his six children: Debroah Trapp of Fertile, MN, Marlene Trapp of Ashburn, VA, Jerome (Katherine) Trapp Jr. of Hanover, MN, Robert (Les Ottjes) Trapp of Scottsdale, AZ, Richard (Jolene) Trapp of Twin Valley, MN, and Rebecca "Becky" Trapp of Madison, MN; granddaughter, Heather Trapp, grandson, Chad (Brianna) Trapp, and grandson, Harrison Jerome Richard Trapp; his siblings: Arlen (Katherina) Trapp, Iona Emma Trapp, Elaine Going, and brother-in-law, Dennis Rogers; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Iona Trapp; his grandson, Adam Trapp, sister, Clare Rogers, his brother-in-law, Ken Going, and a nephew, Matthew Rogers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mahnomen, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. Burial will be held in Riverside Memorial Park, Mahnomen, MN.
