Obituary

Jeff James Scherschligt, 56, of Mentor, MN, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 18, 2012. Jeff was born on November 10, 1955, in Yankton, SD, to Fred and Viola (Barta) Scherschligt. He grew up in Woonsocket, SD, where he attended grade school. He graduated from Wessington Springs High School, Wessington Springs, SD, in 1974. Jeff lived in Arizona following high school.
On August 23, 1985, Jeff was united in marriage to Pamela Bergstrom in Grand Forks, ND. They moved to Maple Lake, near Mentor, where they have lived since. Together with their three children, Jeff and Pam owned and operated Lakeview Resort for the past 31 years.
To meet Jeff was to enjoy him. He had a colorful personality and told some pretty funny jokes. His interests included riding motorcycle and snowmobiles, pheasant hunting in South Dakota, spending time on the lake and golfing. He also enjoyed his time in Arizona. However, Jeff's interests had to involve his family and friends to be meaningful to him. Jeff was a wonderful husband, father and friend. Words cannot express how greatly he will be missed.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Pam, and his three children, Jenna, Mitch and Kali, all of Mentor; his mother, Viola Scherschligt, Wessington Springs, SD; three sisters: Teresa (Larry) Fiala, Custer, SD; Annette (Darnell) Madsen, Aberdeen, SD; and Kathy (David) Bauer, Ipswich, SD; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Fred, 2010.
