Obituary

Jeannette Stadum, 90, Ada, Minnesota died Sunday July 3, 2011 in Bridges Care Community in Ada.

Jeannette E. Johnson was born June 18, 1921, the daughter of Julius and Olga (Christenson) Johnson in Moorhead, Minnesota. She grew up there, attending school and graduating from Moorhead High School. As a young lady, Jeannette moved to Ada where she worked various jobs over the years. Jeannette was united in marriage to Loren Stadum in August of 1941. The couple made their home on a farm near Ada for several years before moving into Ada. Jeannette was employed for the Selective Service Office in Ada for 20 years, until 1973. Jeannette then worked in the office of Dr. Byron Kinkade in the Ada Clinic for several years. She was also employed at the Norman County Extension office until her retirement. Jeannette became a resident of Bridges Care Community in 2007 where she was always respectful and appreciative of the staff for all of the things they did for her.

Jeannette was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in ladies aid. She was also an active member of the Red Hats for several years. Jeannette's favorite past times included the sweet corn season when she was involved selling sweet corn with her nephew, Art. She also enjoyed a cup of coffee with friends and going to the ARC Lanes in Ada. She loved her pet dog, Bucky and spending time with friends and family, but Jeannette truly treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeannette will be remembered as a person who always thought of others before herself and was always there to lend a helping hand.

Jeannette is survived by a daughter, Karen (Jimmy) Thompson of Twin Valley, MN; a sister, Margaret Gilbertson of Ada, MN; six grandchildren, Jason (Sara) Thompson, Tarah (Kyle) Trosen, Joseph, Caitlin and Maggie Thompson and seven great-grandchildren, Alexa, Nick and Ben Zarn, Meyer, Nora and Jimmy Trosen and Jax Thompson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Loren, a son, DuWayne, a daughter, Marilyn and two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2011 in Grace Lutheran Church in Ada. Visitation was one hour before services at the church on Friday. Officiating was Pastor Ken Nyhusmoen with Cammie Sorenson serving as organist and special music provided by Stephanie Knutson and Jessica and Samantha Kappes. Pallbearers were Jason Gilbertson, Ryan Gilbertson, Justin Olson, Jason Thompson, Joseph Thompson and Scott Zarn. Honorary pallbearers were Karen Olson, Claudia Larson, Jennelle Zarn, Vicki Gerjets, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Bridges Care Community residents and staff .

Burial was in the Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN
