Jean M.
Kindseth
Mar 10, 1927 — May 27, 2022
Jean Marjorey (Weium) Kindseth passed away on May 27, 2022 at the age of 95. She was born in Twin Valley, Minnesota on March 10, 1927 to Joe and Myrtle Weium. Jean was the second of five children, including older sis Avis and brothers Owen, Rollie and Lynn.
Jean graduated from Twin Valley High School in 1945. She worked for Western Union in Fargo and Detroit before returning to Twin Valley. Her life was changed when a man came to Twin Valley offering airplane rides to anyone interested. Jean was, but she didn't know anyone who would fly with her. That problem was solved when someone suggested a guy working at the local hardware store, Frank Kindseth who had recently returned after flying many missions in the Pacific during World War II. They went up in that airplane, fell in love and got married on May 11, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church.
Jean and Frank lived in Twin Valley until Frank began working for the hardware store division of Gambles-Skogmo Inc. They moved to Frazee and were later transferred to Jamestown, Fargo, Grand Forks, Little Falls and Marshall. After moving to Marshall in 1965, Frank began a farm consulting business. They returned to Twin Valley in 1990 to help Jean's Mom and sister, and to transition into retirement.
In 2015, they sold their Twin Valley house and moved to the Normandy Apartments. Frank's medical needs ultimately made the Twin Valley Nursing Home a better place for them to live. Their last years were in the Halstad Living Center.
Jean had many fond memories of growing up in Twin Valley, and her close childhood friends remained friends for life. Jean made friends easily and that served them well during their moves. Many new friends became lifelong friends. She always enjoyed sending LOTS of Christmas cards with long letters.
Greeting cards were one of Jean's special joys in life. She loved browsing in Hallmark card shops until she found that perfect card to make someone's day special and to put a smile on their face.
Jean was a legendary baker, especially chocolate chip cookies, ginger crispies, cupcakes, brownies and bars. She loved trying new recipes. Frequent neighborhood coffee parties were great fun for her, as long as they didn't conflict with her "soapies" on TV: "As The World Turns" and "The Guiding Light". She was a meticulous housekeeper! She loved Doublemint gum, Nut Goodies and anything chocolate. Jean was always active in her church. She had a strong faith.
Frank and Jean had one child, Drew. Jean was always one of the first volunteers to help in the school's PTA, Cub Scouts and other activities. She strongly believed in the importance of education. Jean went to all of Drew's high school games and many of his college games. She enjoyed the excitement and fully supported Drew, win or lose, but she did worry about him getting hurt in football games! After the games, they always gathered for coffee with other parents. She was a good mother and a proud one.
Jean and Frank were married for 71 years. Frank passed away in October 2018. Jean is survived by: their son Drew of Dallas, Texas (his wife Sarah died in 2017, Jean really loved her); their grandson Tim Kindseth of Dallas; their granddaughter Anne Kindseth of Dallas, her husband Josh Beaty and their children Olive and Jude; her brother Lynn Weium of Moorhead and his wife Phillis; her brother Rollie's wife Halina Weium of Houston, Texas; a very special niece Hazel Thompson and her husband Lloyd of Twin Valley; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley, with a time of gathering one hour prior at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Jean's memory.
