Watch Jean's Funeral Mass and Committal Prayers

Jean Marie Hagl, age 58, of Erskine, MN, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND with family by her side.

Jean Marie Leslie was born October 10, 1962, in Fosston, MN, the daughter of Harold and Betty (Bray) Leslie. She grew up in the Beaulieu, MN, area and attended school in Mahnomen, MN. Following high school, Jean entered the workforce and lived in Detroit Lakes, MN. She later met Arnold Solmon Sr. and they were united in marriage in 1985. The couple raised a family and made their home in Callaway, MN, for several years then Texas for two years before returning to Beltrami, MN. Arnold and Jean later divorced. She eventually moved to Austin, MN, where she attended truck driving school, followed by a move to Duluth, MN. After a short time, Jean moved to Erskine, MN, then to Crookston, MN, where she worked at the Humane Society. She later married Alfred Hagl Sr. on June 19, 2009, in Crookston and they made their home in Red Lake Falls, MN. Alfred passed away later that year and Jean has made her home in Erskine since that time.

Some of her favorite pastimes included cooking, baking and playing games, especially cards and video. She had a great love for animals and enjoyed the great outdoors and fishing.

Jean is survived by four daughters: Jennifer (Jacob) Hurst, Clarkfield, MN, Trisha (Andrew) Kyllonen, Nevis, MN, Alesia (Jon) Bakken, Montevideo, MN, and Amber Charles, St. Paul, MN; two sons, Arnold Solmon, Jr., Detroit Lakes, MN, and Dominic Hermon, Fridley, MN; stepchildren, Luella (Dominic) Solberg and Alfred Hagl, Jr., both of Thief River Falls, MN; 21 grandchildren; one sister, Mary (Todd) Jackson, Callaway, MN; two brothers, Larry (Judy) Leslie and Gary Leslie, both of Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, Joseph Hagl of Red Lake Falls, MN; nieces and nephews and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Harold; husband, Alfred; and daughter, Kari.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, August 26, 2021, at 11 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mahnomen, MN.  Visitation will take place one hour prior at the church.  Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Terrebonne, MN.
