Janis Anita Cheeseman, 73, rural Fertile, MN was called to heaven on January 11, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.

Janis was born on January 26, 1950 in Crookston, MN to Knute and Adeline (Oswald) Bolstad. She was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fertile, MN. She attended Fertile-Beltrami High School and graduated in 1968. Shortly after graduation, she attended Minnesota School of Business and later was employed by the city of Minneapolis as an Administrative Supervisor in the Attorney's Office.

On November 28, 1997 Janis married Ray Cheeseman. In August of 2006, Janis and Ray moved to Fertile, MN, where they had purchased land and built a new home.

Janis enjoyed sewing and quilting, cooking and baking, spending time with family and friends playing games, volunteering at the nursing home, and helping with making quilts at the church. Janis was so very proud to be a part of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 238 and served as president for many years. She loved the company of animals, especially her precious pets. Janis had a beautiful heart and contagious laugh, which is why she had so many people that loved her.

Janis will be deeply missed by her husband of 26 years, Ray; children, Lori (Jeff) Adams, Fertile, MN, Mike (Renée Jacques) Cheeseman, Minneapolis, MN, and Jenny Cheeseman, Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Brandon (Nick) Neibauer-Adams, Cody Adams, Courtney (Florencio) Mendoza, Foster Hughes, Avery Cheeseman, and Cole Cheeseman; great-grandchild, Aaron Mendoza; siblings, Keith (Cathy) Bolstad, Tim Bolstad, Karen (Joe) Cyr, and Kevin (Deb) Bolstad, all of Fertile, MN; nephews, Jason (Stacy) Bolstad, Albertville, MN; and Josh (Kari) Bolstad, Fertile, MN; 1 grandnephew, Tucker Bolstad and 4 grandnieces, Elena, and Josephine Bolstad; and Ella and Brynn Bolstad.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of Life Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the celebration service at the church.

Inurnment: Concordia East Cemetery, Fertile, MN. (At a later date)
