Twin Valley
James "Jimmy" Tjon, age 66, of Twin Valley, died at his home on Saturday, October 10, 2020.
James Tjon, the son of Telford and Evelyn (McGrath) Tjon, was born on November 4, 1953 in Ada, MN. He grew up on the family farm near Twin Valley. After graduating from Twin Valley High School with the class of 1972, Jimmy was trained as a mechanic. He worked at Cenex Co-op in Twin Valley for several years, selling tires and handling engine repair. Most of Jimmy's career was spent with Oxton Transport where he hauled milk. He was blessed with two sons, Andrew and William, who were his proudest accomplishments. Jimmy later returned to working at Cenex for a time. After losing his arm in an accident in 2008, Jimmy became a certified nurse's assistant and worked at the Twin Valley Living Center until his retirement. Struggling with diabetes, Jimmy's health has declined over the years.
Jimmy's passion was collecting tractors, oil lanterns, eagle artwork, and firearms. He was an avid hunter and served as a firearm safety instructor. He spent hours working with guns, handloading ammunition, and tinkering on his tractors. Jimmy loved going to auctions and showing his tractors in local parades. Jimmy was a private person and was happiest at home with is best canine companion, Kota. He also quietly enjoyed the tedious job of caring for his yard. Jimmy's pride and joy was becoming a grandpa and he cherished the time he spent with his granddaughter, Jaedynn.
He is survived by his sons, Andrew Tjon of Minneapolis, MN and William (Nichole) Tjon, and their daughter, Jaedynn, of Owatonna, MN, his twin sister, JoAnne (Roger) Drevlow of Bismark, ND; sister, Janette (Roger) Kenner of Leeds, ND; brothers, Robert (Janice) of Twin Valley and David (Gail) of Garrett, IN; one sister-in-law, Pat Tjon of Hamilton, MT; and many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry Tjon and Tom Tjon; and his dog, Kota.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley.
