James A. Thompson, 72, Halstad, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 25, 2021, at his residence in Halstad.

James Arland Thompson was born on February 8, 1949 in Warren, MN to Robert and Doris (Parent) Thompson.

Jim met Jil Whitenack, and they were married on April 1, 1998 in Tuscon, AZ. Together Jim and Jill enjoyed traveling and spending time together at the lake. James loved to be outdoors, especially fishing. He loved to travel and looked forward to time to get away on the open road.

In 2014 Jim almost died from heart failure and by the grace of God and the miracle of medical science he was given the gift of several more years, which his family will always cherish. Donations to the American Heart Association in Jim's honor for the purpose of medical research would be appreciated by the family.

James is survived by his wife, Jil, Halstad, MN; twin brother, John Thompson, Halstad, MN; and sister, Joan Holland, Prineville, OR.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Doris; and brother, Donald Thompson.

Private family services to celebrate Jim's life were previously held.
