Watch Jim's Funeral Service

James D. Renfrew ,58, Fargo, ND formerly Borup, MN died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, in his home in Fargo after a brief illness.

Jim was born August 26, 1965, in Moorhead, MN, the son of Raymond and Helen (Jaques) Renfrew. He was raised on the family farm Southeast of Borup and attended school in Borup. Jim graduated from the Borup high school with the class of 1983 and furthered his education at Alexandria Technical and Community College in Alexandria, MN studying hotel management. After completing his education, he was employed at Maddens Resort near Brainard, MN. He later was employed at Garberg Foods in Twin Valley, MN, Central Market in Detroit Lakes, MN and Rax Restaurant in Fargo and as a custodian at John Deere.   Jim spent over 12 years as a custodial engineer at North Dakota State University, a position he truly enjoyed. This is where he was employed until his failing health forced him to retire.

In the late 1990's Jim moved from his home near Borup to a home in Fargo where he has lived since.

He loved his cat, which was a true companion. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching television.  While living in the Borup community he volunteered his time on the Felton Fire and Rescue Department where he served as the president.

Jim is survived by two brothers, Paul (Kimberly) of Mesa, AZ and David "Parker" of West Fargo, ND and 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 2, 2023, at 3:00pm, at the SonRise Evangelical Free Church in Ada, MN. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 3:00-5:00pm with a prayer service at 4:00pm, at the SonRise Evangelical Church in Ada. Burial will be held at the Felton Community Cemetery in Felton, MN.
