Obituary

James Lehmann, 85, rural Fertile, MN, died Friday, November 9, 2018, at his home from natural causes.

James Oscar Lehmann was born on August 16, 1933 in Menomonie Wisconsin (Dunn County) to Oscar and Gertrude Lehmann. As a young boy he moved with his family to Moorhead Mn. and eventually to rural Fertile in Liberty Township.

Jim entered the Army in June 1953 and served in Korea. After he was discharged in April 1955 – he came back to the Fertile area to start farming. He married Lorraine Hamre in Ada, Mn, on Sept. 16, 1961. They purchased the farm they currently were living on in 1964.

Jim enjoyed his years as a farmer raising grains, beef and dairy cattle. He especially enjoyed caring for the little calves. He served on the Liberty Township Board for many years. Jim and Lorraine traveled all over and loved square dancing, camping and working at Rollag. They spent their winter months in Yuma, Az. He was a former member of Evanger Church and a current member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Ada, Mn. Jim loved to have his family over for Fish frys and Uffda Tacos. He will be remembered for being a father who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine of 57 years, his 3 sons-Mark (Darla), John (Kristi), David (Kari) Lehmann all from Fertile, Mn. Grandchildren Darin (Kylene) Lehmann, Ashley (Jake) Kappes, Tanner (Codi) Lehmann, Kassidy (Cameron) Lee, Miranda Lehmann and ShyLee Lehmann and 12 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his father Oscar, mother Gertrude and stepfather Allen Drury, one brother and three sisters.

Memorial Service: 11:00AM Friday, November 16, 2018, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Ada, MN.

Visitation: Thursday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with a 6:30PM prayer service at Erikson-Vik-Ganje Funeral Home, Fertile, and one hour before the service at the church.

Burial: First Evanger Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
