James "Jim" Courtright Jr., 65, of Twin Valley, MN passed away September 30, 2023, at Essentia Health following a sudden heart attack.

James Arthur, the son of Martha Cook Courtright and James A. Courtright Sr., was born on July 15, 1958, in Bitburg, Germany.  He moved to the United States prior to his first birthday. Jim lived in Nebraska before moving to Gary, MN with his father at the age of 13. When Jim was 15 years old, his father moved to the Philippines and Jim stayed in Gary, attending school, working to support himself, and learning to live on his own.  After high school, he worked various construction jobs and in 1979, Jim met the love of his life, Tammy Pawlak.  During their 44 years of marriage, Jim and Tammy were blessed with five sons.  Jim continued to work construction until they purchased their farm in Twin Valley and began raising cattle.  Jim was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing with his boys.  Over the years, they were able to go on many trips together and those trips continued with his seven cherished grandchildren.  Jim loved doing things his own way, like butchering his own meat and smoking turkeys and chickens with his famous special recipe. He proudly shared these smoked treats at family gatherings and holidays, as well as gifts for business colleagues and special friends. Jim was a wonderful cook, specializing in oofda tacos and homemade chicken dumpling soup, but first and foremost he was known for his homemade apple pies and chocolate chip cookies.  When Jim wasn't busy with other things, he could be found in his recliner watching his favorite show…Married with Children.

Jim is survived by his wife, Tammy of Twin Valley; five sons: Jim (Amy) and their children, James IV & Ethan of Otsego, MN, Mike (Angie) and their children, Carter, Cayden, & Samantha of Maple Lake, MN, Nick (Myrtyce) and their children, Myrtyce & Gage of Otsego, MN, Tony (Cassie) expecting the newest little grandchild soon, of Twin Valley, MN, and Jeff (Niki) and her children, Savannah & Clayton of Montrose, MN; sister, Pamela Campbell; sister-in-law, Debbie (Perry) Galvan and Sue (Mike) Harff; brothers-in-law, Eddie Harrison, Dan (Corene) Pawlak, and Steve Pawlak; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Martha; two sisters: Carolyn Harrison and Louise Courtright; and a brother-in-law, Charlie Campbell.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, with a prayer service beginning at 6:00pm at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Saint William Catholic Church in Twin Valley, MN.
