Jacob "Jack" Miller, Jr., age 85, of Mahnomen, MN, died Monday, July 10, 2017, in his home, surrounded by family.

Jacob Louis Miller "Jack" was born May 26, 1932, in Mahnomen to Jacob and Adeline (Flicek) Miller. He attended grade school in Mahnomen and graduated from Mahnomen High School with the class of 1950. After high school, Jack was united in marriage to Mary Ann Andring at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen. Jack entered the United States Army and was stationed in Ft. Sill, OK. Following his honorable discharge, the couple made their home on the farm east of Mahnomen for a short time before living in Moorhead, MN, while Jack attended Moorhead State College. They settled back in Mahnomen where they raised their family. Jack worked many years as a lineman for Wild Rice Electric, retiring in 1994. Mary Ann passed away in 2009 and Jack and their son, Jack, continued to live in their home.

A man of the outdoors could be used to describe Jack. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and simply spending time outside. He made many trips to Eagleview Campground on Big Cormorant Lake to spend time with family and fellow lake friends and throw back a few cold ones. Jack was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Mahnomen American Legion, earning recognition for 60 years of membership.

Jack is survived by one son, Jack, of Mahnomen; two daughters, Cindy (Bob) Majeski of Hastings, MN, and Kim (Butch) Thielen of Moorhead, MN; four grandchildren: Jacob (Liz) Majeski, John (Julie) Majeski and Joseph (Erica) Majeski and Nicolas Thielen; and five great-grandchildren: Meghan, Annie, Wyatt, Audrina, and Jordan Majeski. His was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and infant sister, Mary Ann.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mahnomen, MN, at 3 pm.

A Time of Gathering will take place one hour prior at the church.

Inurnment will be in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
