Obituary

Lloyd Pavek, age 77, of Waubun, MN, died Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Joseph Lloyd Pavek was born to John Sr. and Mary (Adams) Pavek, in Mahnomen, MN, on March 23, 1938. He grew up in the Waubun area and graduated from Waubun High School. On January 27, 1956, Lloyd was united in marriage to Marilyn Bement in Mason City, IA. To this union, twelve children were born, seven sons and five daughters. Lloyd was employed as a bookkeeper for his father-in-law at Bement's Ford Service until he began working for Farmers State Bank of Waubun in 1960. Several years later in 1996, Lloyd purchased his own insurance agency where he worked until retiring in 2004.

As lifelong members of the Waubun Community, Lloyd and Marilyn remained active. They belonged to St. Ann's Catholic Church where Lloyd was active with the Knights of Columbus for many years. He was a member of the Waubun Volunteer Fire Department, the Waubun Booster Club and served on the board for Farm Mutual. Family was first and foremost in Lloyd's eyes. One of Lloyd's passions was attending his children's sporting events and activities. No matter the distance, Lloyd could be seen and "heard" cheering on his children. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Marilyn, hunting and fishing with his sons and sons-in-law, and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. One of his favorite things was to play cards and shake dice with them. His second love was his John Deere tractor, he spent many hours mowing the lawn, even when he was very ill, he found a way to get on that thing!

Lloyd is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Marilyn, his sons; Steve (Linda) of Roseau, Rick (Deb) of West Fargo, Greg (Heidi) of Waubun, Jim of Oakdale, Mike of Eagan, Dan (Tina) of Edina and Chris (Gena) of Eagan, his daughters; Sue (Ted) Peterson of Alexandria, Terri (Todd) Irey of Woodbury, Pam (Charlie) Jasken of Detroit Lakes, Judy (Tom) Goldsmith of Warroad, and Lisa Pavek of Fargo, his 35 grandchildren; Jennifer, Jason, Matt, Adam, Nathan, Noah, Cory, Lindsay, Nick, Danny, Justin, Kelsey, Jacob, Tommy, Sydney, Alex, Ryan, Alex, Emily, Hannah, Molly, Michael, Alissa, Amanda, Andrew, Aaron, Ashlyn, James, Greg, Jason, Ben, Eric, Devynn, Adyson and Blake, his 15 great grandchildren; Graham, Sam, Mikayla, Lilith, Henry, Jackson, Peyton, Baily, Hunter, Jax, Cooper, Waylon, Alaina, Kaylin and Jackson, his brothers; Ed (Dory) of Fertile and Bernard (Therese) of Wadena, his sisters; Patty Wander of Detroit Lakes, Beatrice Steinmetz of Minnetonka and Bernice Leier of Rugby, and many in-laws and extended family.
