Ivan W. Bush, age 71, of Mahnomen, MN, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the home of Judy Shaide in Waubun, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Ivan Wayne was born March 9, 1940 in Cass Lake, MN, to Esther (Skunk) and John H. Bush Jr. He grew up in the Northome, MN, area and as a young man worked as a logger. In 1966, Ivan married Eloise Alexander and they made their home together in the Ebro, MN, area. Ivan worked for 16 years at a nursery. Following his employment with the nursery, he lived in several different communities before moving to Mahnomen in 1995. He most recently moved to Waubun to be with family.


Ivan liked listening and dancing to country music. He could be found out walking and visiting with family and friends. Ivan also loved going to the casino and had a passion for cars and enjoyed tinkering as a mechanic.


Ivan is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Bush of Detroit Lakes, MN; five sons: William (Jennifer Shaide) Bush of Mahnomen, Jeff (Andrea Anderson) Bush of Bagley, MN, Timothy Vincent and Devon Vincent both of Minneapolis, MN, and Tyler Cameron of Virginia, MN; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Elsie and Heath; four sisters: Lucille Noll of Mahnomen, Rose Bush Hooper of Duluth, MN, Clarice Fiskari also of Duluth, and Joyce (Roy) Guinn of Bagley, MN; two brothers, Emery Bush of Moose Lake, MN, and Don Bush of Bagley. Ivan is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 2 pm at the Rice Lake Community Center in Rice Lake, MN. There will be a time a gathering one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
