Isabel Gilbertson, age 92, Mahnomen, Minnesota, died September 29, 2007 at the Mahnomen Nursing Home.
Isabel was born on September 10, 1915 in Brook Park, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Michel) Hull. She moved with her family to the Ogema/Mahnomen area as a child and attended high school in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, graduating with the class of 1931. Isabel pursued her education at Bemidji State College where she received her degree in teaching in 1934. Upon graduation from college she returned to Mahnomen to teach.
In 1941, she was united in marriage to Donald Klabunde. They moved to Estelline, South Dakota and later Lakota, North Dakota before moving to Twin Valley, Minnesota in the 1950?s. Isabel continued to teach in the area while Donald ran a watch repair shop out of their home. Donald passed away in 1985.
Throughout the years, Isabel liked doing various crafts and enjoyed painting pictures of outdoor scenery.
On December 24, 1987 Isabel married Clark Gilbertson. They continued to live in Twin Valley and enjoyed going to dances around the area. In 1990, Clark passed away and at that time Isabel moved to Valley View Commons in Mahnomen. Isabel has made her home at the Mahnomen Nursing Home since 1998.
Surviving Isabel are many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; a son, Kenneth; four brothers: Raymond, Harold, Wilfred and Vincent; and two sisters: Hazel and Marie.
