Irvin Westby, age 82, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007, in MeritCare Health Systems, Fargo, North Dakota, after a lengthy illness.

Irvin was born February 25, 1925, the son of Arthur and Velma (Jensen) Westby in Park Rapids, Minnesota, where he attended school. As a young man, Irvin moved with his family to the Twin Valley community where he resided for all of his adult years. In May of 1943, Irvin enlisted in the United States Army serving his country during World War II. After his honorable discharge in February of 1946, Irvin did farm labor in Montana for a time before returning to Twin Valley to work for area farmers.

Irvin enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and in his younger years, spending time fishing. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Irvin is survived by a sister, Lena (Dolly) Bernard of Nisswa, MN; an aunt, Carnetha Greniger of Chisholm, MN and sister-in-law, Betty Westby of Virginia, MN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lila Derby; brothers, Victor and Hans; nephew, Earl Derby and great-nephew, Daniel Arthur White.

No services will be held at this time.

Inurnment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Twin Valley, Minnesota.
