Irene M. Strand, 91, Ada, MN, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada.

Irene Marie Habedank was born on September 1, 1924 in Ada, the daughter of John & Katherine Habedank. She attended school in Ada. On December 3, 1948, she married John Strand in Ada. They made their home in Ada and raised three children, Robert, Jayne & Annette. John & Irene owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store for 15 years; it was called Strand's Market. Through the years, Irene also worked at the Ada Hospital, did catering and spent many years volunteering for the Senior Center and at Benedictine Care Community. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. John passed away in 1997 and Irene remained living in their home until December, 2004. At that time, due to health issues, she entered the Care Community until her time of death. She enjoyed going for walks, word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, baking & cooking, enjoying coffee time with neighbors and crafts of all kinds.
Her greatest joy was FAMILY! She had a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face with time spent with family members!
Irene is survived by two daughters: Jayne (Tim) Zacher of Ada and Annette (Bill) Ruebke of Ada, five grandchildren: Robbi (Becca) Strand, Rikki Zacher, Rayli (Russ) Heier, Michael Ruebke & Lance Ruebke, seven great-grandchildren: Alex, Chris, Oliver, Matthew, Logan, Caden & Julaine, and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her son, Robert in 1973, two sisters: Florence & Stella, two brothers: Marvin & Murley.
How fortunate we have been to have loved someone so much, that it
makes saying goodbye, so hard. Blessed be the memory of Irene Strand.
Funeral: 2:00PM, Monday, November 23, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation: Sunday, November 22nd from 4:00-6:00PM, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.
Interment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
