Ione Roering, age 93, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died peacefully Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Bethany Retirement Living Center on University Drive.

Ione Gandrud was born September 13, 1922, the daughter of Eddie and Della (Erickson) Gandrud at Callaway, MN. She attended school at Detroit Lakes High School and continued at Detroit Lakes Business College.

Ione worked at Northwestern Bell Company for a few years before her employment by Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA. On November 5, 1945, Ione was united in marriage to Milton Roering at the Air Base in Tucson, AZ. The couple made their home in Detroit Lakes until 1954, when they moved to Twin Valley, MN, where they raised their family. In 1972, Ione and Milton moved to Moorhead, MN, where Ione was employed by Moorhead State University. Following 29 years as a cashier in the snack bar at MSU she retired at nearly 80 years old. Milton passed away in 1989 and Ione remained in their home. She has made her home at Bethany Retirement Living Center since December of 2013. Ione's family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Bethany for all their love and compassion she received.

Ione is survived by a daughter, Lynee (Lee) Gnoinsky of Moorhead, MN; a son, Rodger (Chris) Roering of Twin Valley, MN; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Roering of Twin Valley, MN; six grandchildren: Danielle (Derek) Ruud, Jeremy (Amber) Roering, Derrik Roering, Shannon (Mike) Miller, Erin Roering and Paul (Melissa) Roering; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Della; husband, Milton; one son, Clayton; a sister, Phyllis Welty and a brother, Donald Gandrud.
