Inez Eva Mehr, age 76 of Mahnomen, MN, died on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Innovis Health Systems in Fargo, ND.

Inez was born July 24, 1931, in Albany, MN, to Valentine and Agnes (Schunk) Lemke. She grew up in Albany, graduating with the class of 1949. Following high school, Inez attended business college in Minneapolis, MN.

On July 11, 1953, Inez was united in marriage to Joseph Mehr in Melrose, MN. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities for a short time and Inez worked at an insurance agency. Inez and Joe lived in St. Cloud, MN, and Pequot Lakes, MN, before settling in Mahnomen in 1959. Inez began working at Wild Rice Electric in 1967 and retired from there in 1993. Following retirement, she and Joe continued to live in Mahnomen.

Family was an important part of Inez?s life and over the years, she was an outstanding hostess of many events for family and friends. She was an excellent cook and the party planner. Inez also enjoyed traveling, reading and in younger years, doing ceramics. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and its ladies aid. Inez also held an active membership with the Mahnomen Legion Auxiliary most of her adult life.

Inez is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joe, of Mahnomen; two daughters, Lisa (Gary) Trainer, of Cheyenne, WY, and Sheila Mehr of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons, Mike (Bonnie) Mehr and Pete (Marcy) Mehr, both of Mahnomen; eight grandchildren: Adam, Emily, Maggie, Samantha, Donnie, Sarah, Mason, and Curtis; and three step-sisters: Mary (Tom) Staller, of St. Cloud, MN, Judy (Dave) Schindler, also of St. Cloud, and Kathy (Jim) Mahony, of Jamestown, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Stanley and sister, Dorothy Weisser.
