Obituary

Inez Borge, 96, Ada, MN, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN, under the care of hospice.

Inez was born February 23, 1922, an only child to Frank and Jessie (MacDonald) Olver in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was baptized and confirmed by the Bishop of Anglican Church of Canada. Inez graduated from Kelvin High School and went on to Comptometer school. After graduation she was employed by the Canadian Wheat Board for 14 years. During this time she enjoyed golfing, skiing, bowling and traveling Montana, Banff, Canada, California, Hawaii, England, and Scotland.

Inez met her future husband, Glenn Borge from Hoople, ND, on a blind date. Dancing was a favorite pastime of theirs. After finding a farm to purchase they got married in Winnipeg on April 2, 1954, and moved to Lockhart, MN. Inez quickly went from a city girl to farm wife. She kept busy caring for her family, making meals, canning and gardening. She taught Sunday School for over 20 years at First English Lutheran Church in Lockhart.

Inez continued to bowl on various teams at ARC lanes, retiring from bowling at age 90. She volunteered at the Ada food shelf, Ada Senior Center, as well as the Twin Valley and Halstad Care Centers. She was active in Royal Neighbors, homemakers, ladies aid and church circle.

They lived on the farm together for 43 years. She moved to Ada after Glenn passed away in 1999. She kept busy attending all the grandchildren's activities and driving friends to appointments or coffee time. Baseball, hockey, golf, you name it, she loved sports and politics on TV.

Inez is survived by one son: Brian (Julie) Borge; one daughter: Karen (Dave) Vilmo, both of Ada, MN; grandchildren: Tommy (Kari Strand) Vilmo, Jessica (Jarrett) Heiting, Jon Borge, Mike (Katie) Vilmo, great grandchildren: Christian Vilmo, Taylor Vilmo, Aylah Larson, and Kennedy Vilmo, brother-in-law: Walter Olson, sister-in-law: Betty Lou Weber, 2 nd cousin, Kim Wolter and son Jason Wolter, nephews and nieces: Greg Borge, Brenda Brown, Loni Bruseau, Lynn McGrath, Geri Ann Otterson, Tom Larson, Kevin Larson, Nancy Leith, James McIntyre, Mark Olson, Greg Olson, Annette Kinsella, Steve Weber, Doug Weber, and her dear friend, Janey Harrison (Winnipeg, MB) who is like a sister to her.
