Obituary

Ida B. Hauge, age 66, of Winger, MN, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Ida Belle Sparby was born July 4, 1945 in Cando, ND, the daughter of Peter and Mabel (Gall) Sparby. She grew up in Rock Lake, ND, where she attended school. In March of 1962, Ida was united in marriage to Karrol Olson. They were blessed with two children, Darrell and Julie. They made their home in Devils Lake, ND, where Ida worked as a waitress at the Hi-Way Host and 2 Spot Café.

On July 2, 1971 Ida married Lorren Hauge and they lived in Devils Lake until they moved to Winger, MN, in 1973. While living in Winger, Ida worked at the Sioux Café followed by the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. After 30+ years of working as a nurse's aide in Erskine, Ida recently retired last fall. Lorren died in March of 2006 and she continued to make her home in Winger until the time of her death.

Over the years, Ida remained active and kept busy. She was a real sports enthusiast, particularly for NASCAR. She also enjoyed reading in the evenings and taking in a game show like Jeopardy, Price is Right or Wheel of Fortune. Ida was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the ladies auxiliary in Winger and loved spending time with family and friends.

Surviving Ida are her children, Darrell "Ole" Olson of Winger and Julie (Oscar "Paul") Schow of McIntosh, MN; two grandchildren, Kassi and Kain Schow also of McIntosh; one brother, Tom (Karen) Sparby of Whitefish, MT, and two sisters, Eileen Kastner of Grand Forks, ND, and Betty Mae Smith of Missoula, MT; sisters-in-law: Barb Hinrichs of Sturtevant, WI, Sharon Gunufson of Moorhead, MN, Lois (Kirby) Goering of Newton, KS; several nieces, nephews, and cousins including Bev O'Brien of Rock Lake. In addition to her husband, Lorren, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bonnie; sister-in-law, Doreen Porter and brother-in-law, Orlie Hinrichs.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger, MN. Pastor Aage Carlsen will officiate with Carol Stordahl playing the organ. Special music will be provided by Charles Svalen accompanied by Diane Boucher. Honorary bearers will include Ida's co-workers from the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.

Inurnment will be in the Winger City Cemetery.
