Obituary

Howard D. Kroshus, 54, of Moorhead died Tuesday, Sept. 22, not long after celebrating 10 years of sobriety.

Howard, son of Kenneth and Della Kroshus, was born on July 28, 1955, in Park Rapids, Minnesota. Howard was employed by various farmers and area businesses throughout his adult years, but his life was defined mostly by his work with Alcoholics Anonymous.

Howard was extremely active in the organization and was a mentor to many recovering people. His AA friends were like family to him. He lived with some of them, sold cars to many of them, and would always lend a hand to any of them during times of need. Howard looked forward to speaking each year at the Wild Rice Roundup at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen.

Howard also enjoyed camping, dancing and visiting with his many friends. Howard had an infectious smile and no matter where he would go, somebody knew him. He also had a passion for wheeling and dealing cars and enjoyed finding used cars for his friends and family.

Howard is survived by his mother, Della Kroshus; sisters, Debbie Gordon and Darlene Ness; Nephew Neil (Gloria) Miller, along with Taylor, Charlee and Jackson; Niece Shaunna (Chris) Johnson, along with Harley, Wyatt, Jesse and Beau; Nephew Kevin (Amy) Miller; Nephew Eric (Rachel) Ness; Nephew Marcus (Shelley) Gordon, along with Nicholas, Payton and Macey; Nephew Jason (Jamie) Miller; Nephew Bryan (Nicole) Ness, along with Tatum and Elijah; Nephew Aaron Ness; Nephew Patrick Ness; and many, many, many AA friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Kroshus; sisters, Marilyn Kroshus and Karen Peppel; nephew, Andrew Gordon; and great niece, Isabella Ness.

Visitation is from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, Minn., with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo.

Burial will be in Winchester Lutheran Church in Borup, Minnesota.
