Obituary

In loving memory of Hope Christine DeGroat, who left this world unexpectedly on June 3, 2026. Born on February 28, 1990, at North Memorial Hospital in Robinsdale, Minnesota, Hope's life, though brief, was filled with laughter, love, and boundless generosity.

Hope was the cherished daughter of Tina Klingensmith and the late Floyd "Fritz" DeGroat. Her father's passing, alongside her beloved maternal grandparents, Doris and Arthur, paternal grandparents, Donald and Bernice, and her aunts Penny and Lorraine, as well as uncles Kenny, Dennis, and Donnie, preceded her departure. In their absence, she found strength and solace in the love of her surviving family.

Hope's legacy lives on through her four wonderful children: Isaac, Alejandro, Audrina, and Allie, who were the light of her life. She was a mother whose love knew no bounds, and she leaves them with the cherished memories of laughter, warmth, and endless love. She is survived by her mother, Tina, stepfather, Richard and bonus father, Ej, whose unwavering support and love shaped the woman she grew to be. Her siblings—Floyd, Christine, Faith, Joy, Charity, Harmony, Ernest, Stanley, and brother in law Brandon—formed a close-knit family that shared countless moments of elation, laughter, and adventure. Her nieces Taylor and Emily, and nephews Malikai, Marcus, Mason, Gabriel, and August carry forward the bonds of family that were so important to her.

Hope attended Buffalo High School and later earned her GED, further continuing her education at White Earth Community College. Her love for learning was evident in her curiosity and zest for life.  Fishing, movie nights with her sisters, beach days with her kids, and travel adventures filled Hope's days with bliss. She had a special talent for makeup and fashion, always embracing the opportunity to get dressed up and celebrate life. Known for her quick wit and dark sense of humor, Hope was a beacon of light, making everyone feel welcome and included with her warm smile and unmistakable laugh. She loved cooking big meals for family and friends. Her love for pranks and silliness was infectious, bringing laughter and levity to all who knew her. Hope's kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her aunts Kimberly, Michelle, Jeannie, Dorothy, Shelia and Liza, uncles Donavan, Nathan, Daniel and Timothy, and countless cousins and friends join in remembering a life lived with love and laughter.

In this time of sorrow, we hold onto Hope's memory with love and gratitude. She was a beautiful soul who leaves behind four beautiful children and a world made brighter by her presence. Rest in peace, dear Hope; you will be forever missed and eternally cherished.
