Hilda Kvidt Dahl, 96, Mahnomen, MN died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
On October 9, 1910, Hilda L. Kindseth, the daughter of John and Oline Kindseth, was born at home on the family farm near Faith, MN. She was baptized and later confirmed (in Norwegian), in the Lutheran faith at St. Olaf Lutheran Church at Faith. Hilda grew up and attended country school near Faith. She was united in marriage to Hartvig Kvidt at St. Olaf Lutheran Church at Faith on October 15, 1926. Together they lived and farmed on the Kvidt family farm near Flom, MN for a few years before moving to Mahnomen. Hilda worked at the Red Apple Café there for several years while also being a wonderful homemaker for her family. Hartvig died in 1979.
She continued to live in Mahnomen until her marriage there to Miller Dahl, July 14, 1984. They made their home on the farm near Bejou, MN until his death in 1993, when Hilda returned to Mahnomen. She remained in her home until becoming a resident of the Mahnomen Health Center in May of 2006.
Hilda was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen and the V.F.W. Auxiliary where she served as Chaplin. She also enjoyed baking and cooking as well as playing cards and visiting with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Dean (Pat) Kvidt, Dilworth, MN; two daughters, Helen Infeld, Bemidji, MN and Claudia (Ken) Heitkamp, Bismarck, ND; 14 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husbands, one son, Lowell, one daughter, Marion, three sisters and three brothers.
