Hilda Grove, age 89, of Twin Valley, MN, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, in Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.

Hilda (Prestegord) Grove was born October 28, 1922 daughter of Borghild and Severt Prestegord in Twin Valley, MN where she grew up and attended school. Hilda was united in marriage to Gerald Grove on March 28, 1951. The couple made their home in the Twin Valley area for a few years before moving to the Silver Bay, MN area where they remained until his retirement from Reserve Mining. They returned to Twin Valley to be with their family and friends and a few years ago, moved into the Twin Valley Living Center. They were married for 57 years, until Gerald's death on May 10, 2008.

Hilda loved spending time with her family, friends and her precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, who always brightened her day. She was given the nickname of "ice cream grandma" by some of her great-grandchildren, as she always had ice cream for them when they came to visit. Hilda had many hobbies. She loved working in her beautiful flower gardens, playing her accordion or the piano and playing bingo.


Hilda will be sadly missed by her daughters: Linda Vigesaa of Twin Valley, Sue (Butch) Johnson of Ada, MN and Gerri (Bruce) Bueng of Valley City, ND; son-in-law, Ray Myers of Ada, MN; a brother, Martin Prestegord of Twin Valley; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Hilda is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.


Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, her daughter Ellie, grandson Jeff Johnson, her parents, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lars & Edith Prestegord, Arnold & Darlene Prestegord, Alfred Prestegord, two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lenora and Berger Locken, Selma and Sig Hassel and sister-in-law, Irma Prestegord.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, May 21st, 2012, at 11:00 AM in Wild Rice Lutheran Church rural Twin Valley. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Officiating was Pastor Al Brooks with Carol Johnson serving as organist. Special music was provided by Bobby Brevik and all of Hilda's grandchildren. Pallbearers were Mike Burke, Todd Burke, Scott Burke, Mitch Johnson, Scott Brockopp and Mark Gordon. Honorary pallbearers were Tammy Lindell, Carri Goutermont, Kim Vigessa, Nicki Brockopp, Shelly Gordon and Melissa Kraft.

Burial will be in Wild Rice Lutheran cemetery, rural Twin Valley.
