Hermina Rude, age 92, of Bejou, MN, died Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Hermina Van Den Einde, the daughter of Herman and Lizzie (Bosch), was born on March 24, 1923 at home in Norman County, MN. She attended rural school and later graduated from Gary High School. On May 31, 1951 Hermina was united in marriage to Mylen Rude of Winger, MN, at the Congregational Church in Mahnomen, MN. They made their home near Bejou where they raised their family. They operated a dairy farm together for many years. After Mylen's death in 1993, Hermina continued to make her home on the farm.
Even at the age to 92, Hermina stayed very active and looked forward to her daily events. Although her children worried a bit about her heavy foot, she drove herself and was very independent. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she served on various committees. She was an avid gardener and had beautiful flowerbeds. Hermina loved birdwatching from her favorite chair. She enjoyed reading and all types of word and number games. She also canned her produce and made wonderful pickles each year. Hermina was a gifted baker. She has proudly baked for the Red Apple Café for the last 35 years. She also worked for many years at the bakery in Fosston and was just recently solicited for another baking job in Winger. She was especially known for her pies, donuts, breads, rolls, lefse, and potato dumplings. Hermina had a truly generous spirit; she always gave of herself to others. She loved to visit with family and friends and cherished those close to her. Her kind smile and warm heart will be missed by so many.
Hermina is survived by four children: Steven (Cleone) of Anchorage, AK, Liane DeSalle of Tucson, AZ, Allen of Anchorage, AK, and Darrin (Jody) of Pelican Rapids, MN; four grandsons: Chris Rude, Nick Rude, Adam Rude, Chaz DeSalle; five granddaughters: Jennifer Rude, Lyndsey Rude, Jessica Rude, Cicely Brazier, and CaitLynn Juntunen; and nine great grandchildren: Nevaeh Rude, Kale Rude, Reese Rude, Teigan Rude, Logan Rude, Khyree Wilson, Maleia Wilson, Skyler Rude and Jackson Brazier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mylen; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Brenda; a grandson, Jason; four brothers and one sister.
