Helma Hanson, 90, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Nielsville, MN, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Manor Care in Fargo, ND.
Helma Christine was born May 19, 1920 in Grygla, MN, the daughter of Peter and Hannah (Rue) Holte. She attended country school near Grygla. On June 16, 1945, Helma was united in marriage to Harry Hanson in Nielsville, MN, where they farmed. Helma loved being a farm wife, with all its responsibilities and duties. She also worked at the Jiffy Fry in Crookston, MN, and later Helma worked at the Halstad Lutheran Memorial Home in housekeeping. After Harry died in 1990, Helma lived with her son, Richard, in Edina and Fargo. Helma entered ManorCare in January 2010.
Helma enjoyed riding her motorcycle to work in Halstad. She had a great sense of humor and liked telling jokes. She was a hard worker, helping her husband on the farm. Helma was devoted to her family and enjoyed time spent with them.
Helma is survived by her son, Richard, Fargo, ND, son-in-law, Jim Dibble, Bloomington, MN, a brother, Palmer (Geordes) Holte, Grygla, MN, a sister, Mable Spicer, CO; and nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter, Marlene Dibble, one brother, Alvin and two sisters, Myrtle Hanson and Hazel Holte.
Memorial Service: 10:30 am on Saturday, April 30, 2011, St. Petri Lutheran Church, Nielsville, MN.
Visitation: Friday from 5pm-7pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at the Fredrikson Valley Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.
