Helen Sip, age 96, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, formerly Ada, Minnesota, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, in Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls.

Helen Sophie Bergman was born October 15, 1912, in Ada the daughter of John and Ida (Vahlen) Bergman. She grew and attended country school in rural Ada. On December 18, 1929, Helen was united in marriage to Frank Sip. The couple made their home near Ada where they raised their family. Over the years, Helen helped Frank with the daily chores, all the while keeping busy with the children and her own hobbies. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening. Frank died in 1982 and Helen remained on the farm until moving to Fergus Falls in 1998. She has made her home at the Lydia House in Fergus Falls for the past several years.

In addition to being an avid and loyal Minnesota Twins Fan, Helen was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, the Birthday Club and the Good Will Club. She also kept busy with the Senior Citizens Center in both Ada and Fergus Falls. In her later years, Helen thoroughly enjoyed playing Bingo and an occasional trip to the slot machines. She always had time to spend with family and the sight and sound of a child always brought a smile to her face and a twinkle to her eyes, even very recently.

Helen is survived by a son, Richard (Donna) Sip of Ada, Minnesota; a daughter, Hattie Shortslieve of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband; parents; three grandchildren: Cindy Olsen, Dave Sip, and Rory Olsen; four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 4 at 3:00 PM in Grace Lutheran Church, Ada. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Officiating will be Pastor Don Walker with Cammie Sorensen serving as organist and Tricia Thompson serving as vocalist. Pallbearers will be Loyal Sip, Dale Sip, Cary Sip, Roy Sip, Jamie Sip and Lonny Stundahl. Honorary bearers will be All of Helen's Grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Ada Municipal Cemetery.
