Helen S. Hegreberg, 90, of Halstad, Minnesota, died Sunday, January 17, 2010, at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.
Helen Sophia Haugan was born on July 15th 1919. She was the daughter of Anton and Mattie (Oien) Haugan. She was raised and educated in a country school in Anthony Township, near Halstad, MN.
On June 8th 1944, Helen was united in marriage to Wilhelm (Bill) Hegreberg at East Marsh River Lutheran Church, rural Halstad. They raised their son and farmed in Anthony Township for many years. Helen helped with all the different farm chores including the field work and milking the cows, until moving into town in Halstad in1975. Helen worked at the Halstad café for many years. She was an active member of the East Marsh River Lutheran Church. She served as President, Treasurer, and also Secretary throughout the years. She also worked at the Halstad Living Center for 15 years. She was the happiest when she was busy making quilts, crocheting, embroidering, sewing, gardening and all her baking. She will be remembered the most for her donuts. She enjoyed spending time with her family and the grandkids. Bill passed away in 2000. Helen lived alone and kept working at the Halstad Living Center until 2004. She entered the Halstad Living Center in April, 2006, where she has been a resident there until the time of her death.
Helen is survived by her son, Paul (Nancy Crane) Hegreberg, of Halstad, MN, and her five grandchildren, Kristi Martinson (Martin Perez) of Halstad, Kari (Larry) Navarro of Halstad, Kasey Hegreberg of Halstad, Kelli Johnson (Chris Johnson)of Cavalier, ND, and Kodey Hegreberg (Rachel Onsgard) of Halstad, seven great-grandchildren, Kelsey Shoemaker, MaKayla Martinson, Austin Martinson, Paul Perez, Griffin Johnson, Brylee Johnson and Izabel Hegreberg, one sister, Hildora (Don) Olson, Ada, MN, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Alma Trandem and Nora Anderson.
Funeral Service: 11:00AM Monday, January 25, 2010, at East Marsh River Lutheran Church, rural Halstad, MN.
Visitation: 5-7PM on Sunday at Fredrikson Valley Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.
Burial: East Marsh River Lutheran Cemetery, rural Halstad, MN.
