Helen Marie Hansen, a resident of Halstad, Minnesota, for 76 years passed away from cancer on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at the Halstad Living Center.

Helen was born on April 27, 1933, in Halstad, the daughter of Arnold and Mabel (Hesby) Hansen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at the Halstad Lutheran Church and graduated from Halstad High School in 1951. Her employment in Halstad included the Red River Co-op REA, Halstad Telephone Company, and the Post Office. Helen was a delegate from the Halstad Lutheran Church for 32 years at the Synod Assembly (District Convention). She treasured memories of her travels to Israel, Hawaii, Germany, Egypt, Norway, Sweden, and other landmarks.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her companion of almost 50 years, Berdin (Bud) Haugstad, of Halstad, along with her cousin, Darrell Hesby, of Wayzata, MN..

Funeral: 1:30PM Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Halstad Living Center.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the Halstad Living Center.

Burial: Halstad South Cemetery, Halstad, MN.
