Helen B. Eid, 93, of Fertile, MN died on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at the Riverview Hospital, Fertile, MN. She was born on September 13, 1917, to Carl and Regina (Korsgaden) Jenson in rural Twin Valley, MN. She was baptized at East Wild Rice Lutheran Church, rural Twin Valley; and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Helen graduated from the Mahnomen High School, Mahnomen, MN, in 1935. She continued her education at Moorhead State Teacher's College and San Diego State University, San Diego, CA. Helen taught school in Fertile, San Diego and Gary Public Schools.
On September 4, 1949, Helen was united in marriage to Arne Eid at Twin Valley. They farmed in the Sundal Township, rural Gary, until 1976. Over the years, Helen taught 3rd grade at the Gary Public School. After they had retired, Helen and Arne travelled to the East and West coasts, Texas, California, Montana, Florida, and Arizona. They moved to Fertile in 1984. As Arne's health declined, Helen became his caregiver. Arne died on June 10, 1997. Helen continued to live at her home in Fertile, before moving to Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile.
Helen enjoyed belonging to Sundal Lutheran Church and Concordia Lutheran Church, and their circles and WELCA.
Helen is survived by one sister, Gelaine (Arthur) Gredvig, Fertile; one brother, Lyle (Donna) Jensen, San Jacinto, CA; two sisters –in-law, Marian Jenson, South St. Paul, MN and Rose Jenson, West Fargo, ND; several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arne, five brothers, Kenneth, Sanford, Arnold, Howard, and twin brother, Orris.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 20, 2010, at 10:30 am Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 19, 2010, from 5-7 pm in the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, Mn.

Burial will be in the Sundal Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
