Harvey Wiger, age 93, of Twin Valley, MN, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Harvey N. Wiger was born March 1, 1922, the son of Oliver and Thilda (Urdahl) Wiger on the family farm northeast of Twin Valley. Harvey was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was baptized and later confirmed his faith. He attended Twin Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1940. On February 10, 1948, he and Pearl Borgen were united in marriage at the Zion Lutheran parsonage in Twin Valley. They made their home on the family farm near Twin Valley. They lived there until 2004, when they moved into the Valley Pines Apartments in Twin Valley. After Pearl's death on November 23, 2007, Harvey continued to make his home at the Pines.
Harvey thoroughly enjoyed music. He especially loved it when he could share his singing, playing the piano and guitar to entertain people. In his younger years, Harvey was part of a band that would play in the Fargo area as well as at local gatherings.
Harvey's survivors include one son, Brent (Jeanette), Scottsdale, AZ; one brother, Elwood (Janice) Little Falls, MN; two grandchildren, Erica Faith Wiger, Fargo, ND and Neil Wiger, Twin Valley, MN; six great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Doris Wiger, Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pearl, and one brother, Arlin.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Officiating was Pastor Sarah Dille with Monica Winter serving as organist and Gary Johnson serving as vocalist. Pallbearers were John Brainerd, Lyle Berg, Milo Winter, Tom Habeck, Al Heiraas and Neil Wiger.
Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley.
