Harvey M. Jensrud, 86, died on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile, MN. He was born in Crookston, MN, to Gilbert and Eva (Chapman) Jensrud on February 11, 1924. Harvey attended rural school near his home and farmed with his father until the age of 17. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad. On November 15, 1943, Harvey entered the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant before, being honorably discharged on April 25, 1946.
On October 31, 1945, Harvey was united in marriage to Donna Solie in Crookston, MN.  They were blessed with 10 children.  Harvey was quite an active business man.  Harvey owned and operated Uptown Service Station for 25 years.  He also drove school bus for 37 years, getting to know many young people as they grew older.  He and Donna owned and operated the Top Notch Motel in Fertile for 15 years.  He retired in 1992 and they moved into town.  Donna passed away on December 29, 1998.  Harvey continued to be active in the community and with his family and friends.  He entered the Fair Meadow Nursing Home on January 21, 2010.
Harvey was married to his sweetheart, Donna, for 53 years.  As they raised their family, added in-laws, and added grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a bond of love, understanding, patience, and diversity grew.  Family life was the heart of Harvey's life.  He was also committed to the community of Fertile.  Harvey was a member of the American Legion, Lions, Sandhill Snowcruisers, Boy Scout leader, Fertile Volunteer Fire Department and honorably named "1975 Man of the Year".  He was a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile.
Harvey enjoyed snowmobiling (especially the Winnipeg to St. Paul race), and being at area sporting events.  He had a distinct sense of humor that lasted until the day he died.
Harvey is survived by his children: Diane Severson, Oceanport, NJ; Kathryn (Roger) Haugen, Dilworth, MN; Patricia (Tom) Mjelde, Newfolden, MN, Marlen (Sherry), Mark (Arla), Myles (Barbara) all of Fertile; Joan (Dennis) Johnson, Crookston, MN; Connie (Gary) Lee, Mankato, MN; Pamela (Dan) Solberg, Fosston, MN; and Sherri (Clark) Erickson, West Fargo, ND; 25 grandchildren and  29  great-grandchildren; three brothers: Ervin (Margaret) Jensrud, Litchfield, MN, Jack (Sue) Jensrud, Ada, MN; and Don Jensrud, Crookston, MN; sisters: Agnes Demarais, Monticello, MN; Shirley (George) Johnsen, White Bear Lake, MN; Vi (Ralph) Kaus, Bemidji, MN; and Charlotte Smith, Isanti, MN; and several nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, son-in-law, Karle Severson, grandson, Jeremy Mjelde, great grandchildren Jess Beecher and Emma Bayne, brothers-Orville, Duane, and Marvin.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 10:30 am in the Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 29, 2010, from 5-7 pm with a prayer services at 6:30 pm in the Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.
Burial will be in the Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
