Harriet was born on July 16, 1922, in Fertile, the daughter of Herman and Mabel (Danielson) Lindberg. She attended Pleasant View School-District #97. Learning came easy for Harriet, so she was allowed to skip a grade, resulting in high school graduation from Mentor (MN) High School at age 16 with Salutatorian honors. She went to teacher's training class in East Grand Forks, MN, which provided her a license to teach in a country school. She was hired at District #156 in Woodside Township at $65.00 per month for an 8 month school year. She taught 17 students, grades 1-8, all in one room for 2 years.
On June 14, 1942, Harriet was united in marriage to Paul Lundby in Tacoma, WA. Four daughters were born to this marriage. After Paul returned from his military service obligations in the Aleutian Islands, they rented a few small farms in Woodside Township. They bought the Rolland farm in Garfield Township northeast of Fertile, where they lived from 1956-1996, making many improvements to "Make their house a home."
Harriet worked for the Crop Reporting Service of Minnesota from 1972 until she retired in 1992, interviewing farmers to gain agricultural statistics. In 1996, Fertile became their home together until Paul died on October 2, 2000. She continued to live there until moving to assisted living in October 2013, followed by a move to Fair Meadow Nursing Home in January 2014.
Harriet was known to all as happy, upbeat, and a positive person of strong faith. She was involved in many activities at Little Norway Lutheran Church. She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles and quilting. She also loved cooking and baking for her family. She was always willing to help, to listen and to share. Her family looked forward to the annual "lefse-making" weekend. Visits from her family and friends always brought her great joy.
Harriet is survived by Sharon (Allan) Engelstad, Mentor, MN, Barb Brosowske, Fargo, ND, Becky (Dave) Hunter, Groton, SD, George (Nancy) Dahl, Fergus Falls, MN; her 12 grandchildren and spouses; 12 great-grandchildren, and soon to be 13; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father in 1966, her mother in 1974, husband Paul, one brother Dennis in 1987, daughter LoAnn in 1983, son-in-law Steve Brosowske in 1998, and son-in-law Rob Luecke in 2007.
