Harold "Buddy" Gregerson, age 91, of Ulen, MN, died Thursday, August 9, 2007, in Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen.
Harold Garfield Gregerson, was born on March 8, 1916 to Obert and Anna (Wiger) Gregerson in Ulen, MN. Buddy grew up on a farm near Ulen and had many fond memories of attending country school.
In June of 1942, Buddy entered the United States Army and served with the 82nd Chemical Mortar Battalion. While stationed in the Philippine Islands, he was wounded and received a Purple Heart. Buddy was honorably discharged in October of 1945.
Harold was united in marriage to Lorraine Melbye on October, 26, 1946. Buddy and Lorraine made their home on a farm outside Ulen for many years and they were blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Julie. Lorraine passed away in February of 2001 and Buddy moved to Viking Manor Nursing Home in February of 2004.
Over the years, Buddy farmed and worked in the construction business. He loved the outdoors where you could often find him working with animals, cutting wood and gardening. In his retirement years, Buddy enjoyed going to auction sales and working in his shop. He also enjoyed building tables, children's rockers and toys. Most of all, Buddy loved spending time with his grandchildren; Jeff, Craig and Brett, with the highlight of his life being his great grandkids, Haley Jo and Tommy. Buddy was known for always having a good joke and liked visiting with others.
Buddy is survived by his two daughters, Julie Gregerson of Ulen, and Sharon (Gregory) Rehder of Felton, MN; a sister, Mable Christensen of Babbitt, MN; three grandchildren: Jeff (Bobbi Jo), Craig and Brett, all of Felton; and two great grandchildren: Haley Jo and Tommy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; two brothers, Tilford and Leighton and a sister, Ethel Campbell.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Church, Ulen, Minnesota. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2007 from 5 PM until 7 PM at the church. Officiating will be Pastor John Martinson with Carol Lockhart serving as organist and Steve Lunde serving as vocalist. Pallbearers will be Jeff Rehder, Craig Rehder, Brett Rehder, George Wells, John Green and Keith Gregerson. Military honors will be provided by the Ulen V.F.W. Sander–Jacobson Post #5115 and the Ulen Charles B. Rikhus Post #412 of the American Legion.
Interment will take place at North Bethlehem Cemetery, Ulen, Minnesota.
