Harlan Gunnufson, age 85, of Twin Valley, MN, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Comfort House in McAllen, TX.

Harlan was born on a farm east of Twin Valley, MN on May 30, 1937 to Halvor and Clara (Bjorge) Gunnufson. As a child, Harlan grew up and went to school in Twin Valley and later Gary, MN. After high school, Harlan spent the next nine years in Missouri, mostly in the St. Louis area. While there, he was employed with McDonnell Aircraft and the Chevrolet plant. Harlan moved to Kansas City, MI, and began hauling furniture for Greyhound Van Lines. He then returned to St. Louis for about five years and drove Redi-Mix truck for the Basic Materials. Continuing his career in trucking, Harlan moved back to Minnesota in 1965 and worked for Consolidated Freight Way driving truck for 27 years. In 1967, Harlan was united in marriage to Sherrie Knak, and the couple was blessed with three sons: Jeffrey, Thomas, and Aaron. Harlan retired in 1995, after which they moved back to Twin Valley, MN. In 1996, Harlan and Sherri started going to Texas each winter, where Harlan would play golf and soak up the sun. During the summer months, Harlan continued driving part-time around Twin Valley. He worked with the Highway Department for four seasons, hauled sugar beets for area farmers, and drove for Tastad Construction. As his health declined, Harlan could no longer drive truck, but he continued to stay as active as possible. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and spending time in the great outdoors with his grandson Tyler.

Harlan is survived by his wife, Sherri; three sons: Jeffrey, Thomas and Aaron; a brother, Bob Gunnufson; sister, Penny (Pat) Chisholm; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marles Gunnufson; sister, JoAnn Everson; and sister-in-law, Shirley.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 2:00pm, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley.
