Hans Thorvald Brakob, age 72, youngest son of G Hans and Irene Thoreson Brakob, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at his home in Ruidoso, NM.

Hans was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Strand Township.  He graduated from Twin Valley High school, worked at the Viking Snowmobile factory, and was an Army veteran.  After completing a two year "marketing" degree, he was employed by Newman Outdoor Advertising.  His subsequent promotion to General Manager resulted in his transfer to run their New Mexico operations. Eventually he started his own company, Quail Outdoor Advertising, which he sold in 2022 and retired.

Hans faced and dealt with life's challenges as a devout Christian. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gun and bow hunter.  He enjoyed frequent salmon and walleye fishing trips with family and friends. He was generous and supportive of his family and fellow man by helping in ways too numerous to mention. Hans had nine siblings.  He leaves behind brothers: Hank (Colleen), Plymouth MN, and Lyle (Margaret), Newport Beach, CA; sisters: Anna (Curtis) Pribula, Fridley, MN, Colleen Boe, Crookston, MN, and Carolyn Halvorson, Mandan, ND; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.  He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Doris (Arley) Volker and Carol (Eldon) Halvorson; and two brothers, Art and Edward (Kathy).

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 1:00pm where Hans will be laid to rest at the Syre Lutheran Cemetery (South of Twin Valley), with military honors by the Twin Valley Nesseth-Lein Post #431 of the American Legion and the Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard. Refreshments and fellowship will follow at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley following the services.
