Gunder A. Hanson, age 86, of Ulen, MN, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen.

Born on May 9, 1938, in Norway Township near Hillsboro, ND, Gunder Andrew Hanson was the son of Severin and Clara (Gilbertson) Hanson. In 1943, his family relocated to a farm near Ulen, where Gunder began his lifelong connection to agriculture. From an early age, he was deeply involved in the family farm, eventually taking over operations with his brothers, Lester and Theodore. Together, they poured their hearts into farming, raising Hereford cattle and cultivating grains, oats, and flax. Gunder's passion for farming shone brightly throughout his life, and his commitment to the land was unwavering.

Following Ted's passing in 2001, Gunder and Lester continued to manage the farm. Lester passed away in 2007 and eventually Gunder transitioned to renting out the land. Beyond his farming life, Gunder found joy in fishing and enjoyed attending auction sales. His sense of humor, quick wit and love for clever jokes made those around him smile.  Gunder's family meant the world to him, and he looked forward to the annual family reunion picnic with great anticipation, appreciating the opportunity to be surrounded by the people he held dear.

Gunder is survived by two sisters, Loretta Heasley and Violet Jacobson; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Theodore and Lester; one sister, Bernice Nixon; brothers-in-law: Vernon Jacobson, Edwin Nixon, and John Heasley; sister-in-law, Diane Hanson; and three great-nephews: Vance, Issiah, and Miko.

A funeral service will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, at 1:00pm, with a visitation one hour prior, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley, MN. Interment will be held at Aal Cemetery in Hillsboro, ND
