Gregory C. Stuhaug, 72, of Fertile, MN, passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, on Saturday, September 5, 2020.
Greg was born on May 29, 1948, to Charles and Gladys (Rice) Stuhaug in rural Fertile, MN. He grew up and attended school in Fertile, graduating from Fertile High School in 1966. Following high school, he attended the University of MN-Crookston, graduating with a degree in Accounting in 1968. After college, he was inducted into the United States Navy, serving as a Navy Corpsman. He spent most of his time working on wounded Marines at the Long Beach Naval Hospital. He was honorably discharged in 1971. Following his Naval service, he moved back to Fertile and worked with his father for Charles Stuhaug Trucking, hauling grain, freight, and livestock for area farmers and business' as well as driving buses owned by his father for the Fertile-Beltrami school. After selling the trucking business in 1979, he bought Stuhaug Sanitation Service, which he owned and operated until 1999. He then returned to driving bus for the Fertile-Beltrami school until his retirement in 2017.
On June 26, 1982, Greg was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marla Sollie at Concordia Lutheran Church. They lived in the Fertile area the entire time. They enjoyed 38 wonderful years of marriage.
Greg was a member of Hope Evangelical Free Church, Fertile American Legion Post #238, and the National Rifle Association. He was involved in many church activities, including being a Sunday school teacher, serving on boards, ushering, and custodial work. He was also involved with Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, and Teens Encounter Christ. He had a strong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching basketball, baseball, and westerns and loved Coca-Cola, donuts, and Texas Roadhouse.
Greg is survived by his wife Marla of Fertile, MN; three daughters, Teresa (Jason) Karsten, Fridley, MN, Greta (Aaron) Broden, Fertile, MN, and Maria (Marcus) Young, Cheyenne, WY; son, Nathan (Stacy) Stuhaug, Fertile, MN; eleven grandchildren, Ryan, Mariah, Michael, Tyler, Tysen, Marcellus, Cale, Catherine, Mya, Torrey, and Owen; and one brother, Rick (Kathie) Stuhaug, Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Gladys, and one grandson, Jaden Karsten.
The Lord gave, the Lord has taken away, Blessed be the name of the Lord! And Blessed be the memory of Gregory Charles Stuhaug.
Funeral: 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Hope Evangelical Free Church (The service will be held outdoors on church grounds), Fertile, MN, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. All are encouraged to wear a mask. Please bring lawn chairs.
Visitation: 6:00-7:30 PM, Friday, September 11, 2020 outdoors, at Hope Evangelical Free Church, Fertile, MN.
Burial: Hope Evangelical Free Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
