) Peterson, 89, New Hope, formerly of Fertile, MN passed away on Sunday, November
18th
, 2018, under hospice care at Good Samaritan Society, in New Hope.
Grace Jeanette (Bakke) Peterson was born on November
8th
, 1929, along with her twin sister, Joyce at their home near Winger, MN, daughter of Marie (Krogstad) and John
Bakke
. She grew up on a farm with 6 brothers and sisters and attended Wooded Park School.
Grace married Willard (Bill) Peterson in 1950. They moved to the Twin Cities, where Grace worked for several years at Honeywell soldering electrical circuit boards. In 1960, she had the first of her three boys, Charles, followed by Paul in 1962 and Daniel in 1964. They lived in St. Louis Park for 35 years, making many friends in the neighborhood playing cards, having parties and barbecues , and sharing the trials and tribulations of raising three active boys.
In the 1980's , after all the boys had graduated from high school, Grace and Bill bought a home in Fertile, where they lived until Bill's passing in 2000. Grace moved to Mahnomen , where she lived until 2006. In 2006, much to the delight of her sons, Grace moved back to the Twin Cities, where she lived in New Hope, keeping busy playing cards, sewing, baking and spending time with her family.
Grace is survived by her twin sister, Joyce Sannes, her children: Charles (Peggy) Peterson of St. Paul, Paul (Valerie) Peterson of Golden Valley, and Daniel (Michelle) Peterson of New Hope; Grandchildren: Edward (Katie) Devaney , Cody Englin , Jessica Peterson, Kassy Janke , Patrick Peterson, Jennifer Peterson; Great-grandchildren: Jocelyn Devaney , Isaiah Devaney , Mercedes Janke Hatzenpiller , Arya Miller-Peterson, Firnen Miller-Peterson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard, her parents, sister and brothers, Olga, Orton, Walter, Melvin, and Leonard, and grandson, Nicholas Peterson.
A memorial in the Twin Cities will be held on Wednesday, November 21st , 2018 at 4-6 p.m. at the Washburn-McReavy Robbinsdale Chapel, 4239 West Broadway, Robbinsdale .
